Our aim is for every child to make their best possible progress in their learning and to achieve their potential.
We believe that teaching starts with assessment. Teachers base their lesson plans on their judgements of what children know and can do. They make these judgements based on their day to day observations, marking of children’s work and periodically, more formal assessments.
In the Foundation Stage (Year R) assessments are made against Early Learning Goals. In Key Stage 1 and 2 assessments are made against success criteria which are graded into levels and sub levels. These are set out in assessment grids. We have attached these for your information.
Assessment data is used to track children’s progress across the year and throughout their journey through school. Children’s levels of attainment and their progress are discussed with parents termly, at parent evenings.
